I could do lots of blog posts on this very topic so, for now, I have given a picture in the Phonics Development section. Once your little one can read and understand each letter of the alphabet, then it is time to move onto letter blends. Print the common letter blends poster to place up on the wall when learning. Letter blends involve taking two different letter together and bringing them together to make a sound in a word. E.g. e + a = ea as in beam. When learning letter blends, the first vowel is read. See the picture below to understand this concept a bit better:

The picture on the Phonics Development can be used when moving on to Level 2 of reading. Highlight the sound blends in words to clearly see the blends and make learning more fun.
